why i like TWITTER

i don’t plurk much but i tweet often. there are hyper times when i tweet twice in a minute but there are times when i don’t tweet the whole day. depends on the mood.

the reason why i like twitter better than plurk is, it’s simple. for me, although many people enjoy it, the graphics and too many colors are distracting. it’s like friendster/myspace versus facebook. i’m more interested in what my followers and whom i following are tweeting or replying about, that’s it. i don’t like micro-blogging from the main site anyways. i use gadgets and apps embedded in gmail for example or running in my desktop. i like the fact that i can tweet my blog posts too.

so there, i’m sticking with twitter :)

WHY I LIKE FACEBOOK

for now i can say this after friendster lost its spark and myspace is passe. some people think that these social networking apps are non-sense but to me, they are my stress relievers
.
reason number 1, that’s where i reunite with my old buddies. i get to see what they look like now or what they’re up to after all these years. it’s fun to read interactions and stuff from them. it feels good to know that you’re not the only one who’s bored, broken-hearted, busy, stressed, sick, frantic, or whatever through status messages.

reason number 2, facebook is easy to use. you can leave comments or ratings without leaving the HOME page unlike other networking sites wherein you have to open each profile before you can do so. profile views or who’s viewing your profile aren’t really that important, right?

reason number 3, facebook is clean and light. i mean, currently i’m not seeing spam profiles with very naughty pictures and all kinds of unreal stuff. hope it stays the way it is.

ok so those are the general reasons why i like and use facebook. i had an account with it more than 3 years ago i think when it was still limited to accredited schools. glad they opened it up for everyone and let’s all hope it won’t slow down.

DOMAIN NAME GENERATOR

recently i came across this problem of being clueless on what domain to register. i think i wasted all afternoon just figuring it out because almost everything i’ve thought of were taken. why does it have to be very time-consuming, eh?

here are some DOMAIN NAME GENERATOR sites that you can check out which can probably save your from this kind of dilemma:

1. MAKEWORDS
2. DOTOMATOR
3. HACKSLASH
4. RANDOMAINER
5. BUST A NAME
6. DOMAINSBOT
7. NAMEBOY

here are some quick tips on choosing a good domain for your website:

1. make it short.
2. avoid using dashes if possible.
3. pick one that is easy to pronounce.
4. add your website’s keyword niche to it.
5. choose a catchy name, something you wouldn’t be embarrassed to stick at the back of your truck, print on your shirt, etc.

hope this helped :)

BLOG / MYSPACE / FRIENDSTER BACKGROUND GENERATOR

as you may have noticed, i haven’t been posting enough. this simply means, i am not on petiks mode these days. but it’s more of me and my self-discipline tied together, trying to make it through each day. oh well.

maybe today i could share an online tool for generating unique, seamless patterns and / or backgrounds for your blogs, myspace, friendster profiles or basically on any customizable space on the web. if you also love online scrapbooking, then you would find this really cool.

without further ado, here’s BGPATTERNS: tiled background designer!

here’s the screenshot:

enjoy!

random BAND name, album art and title generator

i got this tag from a networking site a month ago and it’s a real time killer:

TO DO THIS:

1 – Go to “wikipedia.” Hit “random”
or click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

2 – Go to “Random quotations”
or click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.

3 – Go to flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”
or click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4 – Use photoshop/picasa/paint or any similar program to put it all together.

5 – Post it to your blog with this text and start tagging all your friends that you want to join in.

i personally love this tag :)

what your future son/daughter would look like

i’ve tried many virtual makeover generators in the past but there’s one that got me hooked today because of its many other features other than “making faces”.

at moonjee, there’s a blend face tool that would ask you to select two photos (either uploaded or just pick from shared), click some, and tada! just look at that cutesy on the right.

face art and personality, attractiveness rate, hair makeover. those are a few more of their easy-to-use features. i tried playing around with it using celebrity faces.

just showing what the interface looks like:

kill time now! jump to MOONJEE.
